Anna,
I e file most of my sog clients. I do not touch the nail and have not ruined
any nails doing it this way. Well, aside from my right hand!!!
I see major drying from the acetone soaking, no matter what way it is being
done.

Buenos dias!

Angie doesn't that defeat the purpose of the soak off gel if you apply a
hard gel no matter how thin it is then apply a Shellac, Gellish, Gelez,
Axxium, Ecco or any other brand that is considered a soak off on top of the
hard gel then it's a hard gel service with an additional service added?
Right?

I was understanding the original question to be what can you do to help with
not having to break the seal on some of the Soak Off Gel so that her clients
feel more at ease with damaging the natural nail. When the Soak off Gel
Polish products were introduced it is meant to target the natural nail
client that is looking for a non abrasive nail polish that last more then 4
days. When you put a drill to the natural nail (even to break the seal) it
becomes an abrasive service to that natural nail defeating the purpose of
the service. I love that some of the other soak off gels have lasting life
spans but I too do not want to have to file each nail prior to the removal
of the product to apply a new color, I have not found any other products
besides Shellac that has such an easy removal time with out having to crack
the seal....however they do not have many colors to choose from nor have I
been able to get over the thickening of the products without having to heat
them up and shake them to death prior to the application. I'm sure in time
this will change but until then of course I keep on trying to keep with it.

On the note with regard to the clients getting over zealous and spoiled with
the Gel Polish thinking that this is a replacement for acrylics: I have
made it very very clear that this DOES NOT replace any other artificial
service this product is only to prolong the life of your polish on the
natural nail it has a gel component that allows it to stay on longer does
not replace any artificial products. It will not make your nails stronger,
there is nothing on the market that is stronger or last longer then
acrylics. It promises to last up to 14 days if you get longer then that
your a lucky winner. I have had to give several clients an education on the
types of products and their strengths since Shellac was introduced they are
not manicurist they are clients they don't understand until they are told
what is what and why....We are the manicurist the professional that they
came to for a service we are the ones that hold the license that came with
the hours that we had to do for that license. While they sit down and start
to get what they ask for begin the class with "Now you understand that this
is a temporary service that requires maintenance within a time frame of 14
days to 2 weeks?" if you have to give them the break down of strengths so
you sound more educated then them do it girl...they love that stuff you show
them that you know your profession to the fullest and they are impressed to
no end.

I hate that your client did you that way especially while the holidays are
already tight in scheduling and that we all need every ounce of money we get
from our clients. But when you saw her I hope you kept your composer and
that you didn't show her any attitude or give her any satisfaction that she
had the upper hand in this situation? Next time you see her ask how she's
doing with her new girl never back down from her and be all in her face with
niceness and professionalism as I know you are all the time. Still allow
her the opportunity to come back to your chair, money is money and you have
to obviously earn this ones respect by showing her that you know your stuff
and that you are the best in your field. Next time show her the background
of the Shellac and some items where it clearly states that it's only to last
up to 14 days not any longer then 3 weeks and she will be impressed that you
put it on her and it lasted much longer then the 14 days and it's only gonna
stay that long cause you did them!!!

I wish you all the best not only with this client but all of them cause girl
I got so many of those clients it's not even funny!

Keep your head up and keep your professional hat on at all times! ;)

Happy New Years Girls!
