Michelle, you're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. I've worked in restaurants before and the management most definitely has the obligation to prohibit offensive behavior by its patrons.
I left out the part where we first called over the server and mentioned that the cursing going on behind us was getting out of hand. They chose to do nothing about it, probably because they were afraid the "goodfellows" would shoot them, and we chose to leave. That's how business goes. You don't like the way the restaurant (or salon) is being handled, then you take your business (and your money) elsewhere. This restaurant was not a bar & grill in some roadhouse where you'd be surprised if you didn't hear cursing. It was the kind with dim lighting, actual cloth napkins, fine linen table cloths and candles for ambience. We thought we were dining at a civilized establishment. The F bomb being used 2-3 times in each sentence was overkill and I wondered at the time if we were being "Punked"...like where's the hidden cameras? I don't know how many other people seated next to this table left offended, too, but we at least gave the management the valuable feedback they needed to correct this situation. Unfortunately, they chose to do nothing and so for the duration of our stay we dined elsewhere. Will we boycott this restaurant forever? No. But if this happens again anywhere, at any time, in a free society we all have the right to voice our disapproval and take our business elsewhere. That's my opinion and people are free to agree or disagree with it.
