In my opinion, in that case scenario, then the SALON should ring up the sale
and cover the CC fees.  When the GC is redeemed, whoever it is redeemed
with, will turn in the GC to the salon, and the salon will reimburse them
the value of the GC, less the CC fees.  So that tech will be eating the
service discount, whatever it was.  Does that make sense?

Remember, GC Sales don't count as income and IS NOT YOUR MONEY until the
service is performed.  If the GC is never redeemed, you most likely are not
allowed to keep the money.  In most states, you have to turn it over to the
state as unclaimed property after a certain time period and they will work
to return the funds to the owner of the GC.  Check the escheet laws in your
state to be sure.
