Wanted to share some ideas I’ve had for my new tiny space:
First, for a polish rack....got my inspiration from Vicki Peter’s new polish
rack that her carpenter made for her. I bought a 7’ length of molding from
Lowe’s for $11.87. I had them cut it into 4 equal pieces there at the store
for me. I bought small metal “L” brackets to use for mounting the four
“shelves.” 4 pkgs at $2.59 per package of 2. The wood came primed, and I will
paint them with either the paint I already have for the walls or am thinking of
spray painting them glossy black. Will keep you posted on the final
decision---blend in or contrast! Bottom line...I will have a very nice polish
rack for around 25 bucks that will hold 84 inches of polish. And someday...I
can take it off the wall and use it for picture ledges or something else.
I also bought a “student desk” and chair for $129 at Garden Ridge. I’m having a
piece of glass cut for the top of the desk, attaching a lamp I already have,
and am using the wood rolling carts I already have from Home Decorator--Check
out their Stanton collection...perfect for ppl who need lots of small drawers
for their small items, rather than a couple of deep ones that end up wasting
cubic space. I am using a couple that cost $134, I think. If I leave the
wheels off one, it will slide right under the desk on one side.
I bought a nearly new Zero Gravity chair from “a little old lady” on Craig’s
list. Got her son to deliver it. This chair is motorized and if I sit at the
person’s feet with their legs lifted up over my lap, I can do a wonderful pedi,
or if I sit at the other end with their head over my lap, I can do a facial or
a set of lash extensions or certain waxing (won’t be doing bikini or legs any
more...am over it!). One piece of equipment will let me do all my services.
Already had a rolling stool with height adjustment for me to sit on. Already
had my nail, facial and waxing supplies and gear.
Bought a “laundry room” shelving unit that I will have the salon mntce guy
mount high on the wall...for $98 bucks. I might as well take advantage of “up”
since I have so little floor space, so I’ll have him leave a gap between the
top and the high ceiling and I’ll put things that I don’t need often in baskets
up there.
Gonna be in business for very little...just a lot of painting and finagling!
