Hi, I, too, attended a cosmetology school as the only nail student and was basically ignored by the instructors. I read my text book, took the tests and practiced with my kit alone. I suggest you find a licensed manicurist to do your nails and mentor you. I paid a manicurist to do my nails, closly watched how she did them and asked her my questions while she was doing my nails. She was not a very good mentor, she never sat with me and watched me do nails, but she did let me watch her and answered my questions. I then went home, soaked off the nails I just paid for and redid them myself. I also practiced acrylic on my toes and all my friends. After I graduated and took my boards, I paid for a Tammy Taylor class. I credit Tammy Taylor for really teaching me how to do nails. Her class was the most comprehensive class I have ever taken. She covered acrylic consistency, product control, form application, tip application, shaping, nail file theory, nail structure, booking appointments, client retention, client recruitment, salon etiquette......everything I needed to know to have a successfull nail business.
