I would concentrate on putting the salon in the BEST location you can! There are 3 things you must focus on when opening a business, and they are 1. Location 2. Location 3. Location! next, hook up with www.score.org they are a mentoring group that will help you FREE of charge to manage your business and answer any questions you may have. Very important resource. You will need an accountant, to make sure that your records are kept in order and that taxes are filed appropriately and that you have the business licenses you need to open checking accounts, and file taxes. I would figure out a business name that has an available website and that a phone number would work for. Example: www.mynails.com and the phone number is (area code) MY-NAILS That way, clients can always find you! I would even go so far as to name my business as a website! The name is: www.MyNAILS.com see... easy to find you! Website matches your name, phone number IS your name! Word of mouth is best advertising you can have. So.. get out there and promote your business! Give loyalty rewards, offer gift certificates to local businesses, have an open house and cross promote with the bakery, the flower shop, the candle company, etc. If you hold an open house in your new salon and offer the other businesses the opportunity to promote their business also, its a win/win situation!
