Mom's Dark Cut-Out Cookies
1 (14-ounce) package brownulated sugar*
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup margarine -- softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
3-1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix sugar, salt and margarine in large bowl. Beat in eggs and vanilla until fluffy. Sift dry ingredients together and blend into sugar mixture. Chill overnight. Roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness on floured board. Cut out cookies. Bake at 350ยบ for 8 to 10 minutes on a greased cookie sheet. When cool, frost with Sugar Cookie Frosting and decorate.
NOTES : It wouldn't be Christmas without these cookies! The dough is much easier to work with than regular cut-out cookies. I would guess this recipe makes about 6 dozen cookies.
*Brownulated sugar can sometimes be hard to find, but it should be near the regular brown sugar at the supermarket.
