Glen, I guess you are not familiar with this group .....CPT   It is not about bringing anything except" eyes" to see  from out side to witness injustice .....   There is nothing new about this idea that if the rest of the world is watching that those who would abuse, murder and  butcher the Aboriginal people of this world ... are a little more careful and not so quick to do it ...   This group is there for that purpose .... And if they are willing to take a bullet or what ever that saves one Aboriginal person in this world then I am for it ... and I don't care what their own personal religion is ....     They are not there to teach or convert any one ... they are respectful of other peoples way ... That is a part of their commitment ...   I too when I first heard of them ... had the same attune as you ...I am a First Nations women ...and the last thing I want to see coming at me is a christian ...   Sorry if that offends anyone on this list .... that is not my intention ... I know many of our people are christian ... I am just not one of them ....   But since learning about their work with First Nations here in this country during the lobster dispute on Burnt Church reserve ... I have learned about them and understand what they do around the world ...   Perhaps you remember seeing the picture of the fisheries department ramming that small fishing boat .... Well one of the people in that boat who got thrown into the ocean when it was rammed was one of these people   They took the same abuse that our people did ... They did not run and hide but stood strong and taped and video what really happened ..... So people like you and others around the world got to see that picture .....   If you think they do not become targets for doing this ...You are very wrong .... No one wants any witnesses to these in humane acts ....    I think they know well the three golden rules that you mentioned ...and they have chosen to deal with what they are facing in another way ... which is their choice ... since it is their life .... As for harmony ...if it where that way down there now then their would be no need for the CPT to be there ... They do not go unless they are asked ....   Now you can say ya they likely believe that is what "their god " wants then to do ...   Who knows why or maybe they just have a thing about innocent people being killed abused or butchered ...by governments ... or powers ..that want to get rid of all Aboriginal people to take what ever they missed the first time ....   What ever the reason ...they choose to take a stand in the front line and maybe help save a Aboriginal persons life .... So I don't have a problem sending smoke and prayers or sending a message that may help in some small way ...   Maybe it won't help but at least I have the satisfaction of knowing ... I did something ....   We all know ...... what they do today and no one speaks up about ...They will do to us tomorrow ... and no one will speak up then either ...   Cause lets face it ...what they did to our Ancestors  and no one stopped them or spoke up about it ... they then did to others like the Jews ... only they added the oven ...   I also wish them a safe stay ... they are not my friends ... The women who asked this to be sent out is a friend to some of them. She got to know because of their support for our people during what happened over the lobster fishing ....and is concerned for them .....   I mean you no disrespect ... you are entitled to your 2 cents .... and this is just mine ... They think in one week they will change conditions or start a big movement.  After filming they return to the U.S. for donations. Leaving people they "converted" to the life they had, only being outcast and wondering where is this new easy life. I have traveled and worked all over Central America for a few years and from time to time I run into a group from the states wide eyed and pipe dreams. Now, they truly believe what they are saying at least they have convinced themselves of this. The Militia groups are reflection of what the poor have turned to.  Rich are richer and poor are poorer that's the way it is in the States and that is the way it is there.  Your friend William should perhaps move to work WITH the local Gov't and the Militia group in charge of the area. Christians that go on these trips forget they are NOT in charge of anything. Think about it, he's not really needed so, the best he can do is fit in. Taking a tired story to people who are tired isn't going to work any more. Christian groups from Europe did it in North America and continue to do it today. Slowly Native people of North America are rediscovering their true beliefs while finding new ways to adjust through today's needs. Understanding that ideas that at one time controlled people through a threat, Dragons would come and breath fire is plain out goofy unless you are European. Here are three rules for the Gringo traveler in Latin America: 1     If you act like and Ass someone will kick it.  2     The Man with the gun is in charge. 3     Your flight is leaving in a day or two. I do wish your people a safe stay and return. Just try to remember your friends are visiting and will always be outsiders.
