I have tried Absolute, relative and current directory. loading the navit
application using strace shows the file being opened

mprotect(0x7f6c3f65d000, 4096, PROT_READ) = 0
open("/tmp/osm_europe.bin", O_RDONLY) = 5
fstat(5, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=1196881608, ...}) = 0
lseek(5, 0, SEEK_SET) = 0
read(5, "PK\3\4"..., 4) = 4

File is 1.1GB in size (st_size) which is correct, the file is being found.
