Even if the ThermoQuad (TQ) is working 100% -- if it needs fixing
that is -- I'd still go with an Edelbrock replacement...and sell the
TQ to someone else.

suggest you be sure your carb is the problem.  It sounds like you
did a lot of the rebuild work yourself...is it possible you
inadvertently left off a vacuum hose?  Though not familiar with your
engine, modern motors have an awful lot of tubes and hoses all over
them, it would be easy to miss one.

have a clogged catalytic converter, which could definitely cause a
loss of power and a stinky exhaust.  Frankly, I don't even know if
your rig CAME with a cat converter, but I'd sure look into that
first.

be sure it comes with a good set of instructions.  A V gauge can
tell you a whole lot more about an engine's operating condition than
most people would even imagine, if you know how to read the thing.
(Revcons have V gauges built into the instrument cluster from the
factory)

starting fluid, WD-40, or anything flammable around all the hose
fittings, carb base, manifold to head gaskets, etc....anyplace a
vacuum leak could occur.  If, as you spray around, the engine
suddenly speeds up (or dies!), there's your leak.
