Al, This is a vast over simplification of the problem. If it were just that easy to set the feedrates above the resonance bands then there would be no need for microstepping drives. For simple single axis moves, you can easily set the stepper motor start speed above the resonance band and never have a problem. For concerted moves of multiple axes you will encounter the resonance band whenever one axis has to move slowly to keep in sync with another axis. The feedrate sets the vector sum of all axes, but does not do anything to control the feedrate of a single axis, and you will lose steps with a full or half stepping drive.
