Thanks for posting the pc about how the list got started. It got me thinking about how we have all found our way here. I joined the list in the spring of 2000. I had just purchased my first cat, a 1973 H16. A friend had the boat in his front yard, we were leaving his house and heading for NW Pa. to go trout fishing for the weekend. I asked Walt what was up with the catamaran in his yard. He asked if I wanted to buy it. A few minutes later I owned what was to become the PPE . Little did I know how much this chance purchase would change our lives. The following week at work I was surfing the net looking for information on hobie cats, I knew next to nothing about them, and never sailed one. I remember while doing a search that I came across a random post about "the butt cheek differential" This took me to "on the wire" and from on the wire I found my way to "the list". The list, on the wire, and thebeachcats.com have been an unbelievable source of learning and information for me. I have to believe being associated with this group has taken years off our learning curve. On top of that it has introduced me to the greatest bunch of folks I could ever wish to meet, some I have met in person, some on the phone and some through their posts to the list. The funny thing is I feel like I know them all as if I have had them for real time sailing friends for all of my life. I'm sorry I never had the chance to talk to Dave Anderson, but my thanks go out to him. Also I want to say thanks to Bill M. for On the Wire and Damon for his hard work, here and at thebeachcats.com to keep this forum up and running. On top of this (this is starting to sound like an acceptance speck at an awards dinner) I also want to say thanks to all of you who contribute (both on topic and off topic) to the list and make this community the great place it is.
