You know what Megan, my dd was exactly 12 lbs at six months. At one year, she was15 lbs. And she is perfectly healthy, just petite. She is nine and a half now and exactly 50 lbs. Which is only ten lbs more than my 3 yr old. We had all the testing done when she was very very young, and the conclusion is that she is perfect ;-D Don't worry, you know people come in all shapes and sizes...just relax and enjoy her smallness! Oh BTW, the dr wanted me to supplement too but I didn't because I wanted to breastfeed- and I knew it would be the start of weaning her if I gave her the bottle.

hi everyone! i just got back from the pediatrician with penelope, she
turned six months old today!! it was kind of a stressful trip. first of
all, my mother in law works for the school district and is off for xmas
break so she asked to go, and i thought it would be harmless, so i agreed.
we got there and she acted like a a total idiot. the trip was stressful
enough because we got there and found out penelope has only gained five
ounces in the last month, putting her weight at (gasp!!) 12lbs. 11 oz. shes
25 inches long and has a head circumference of 16 and a 1/2 inches. so
length and head size are good, but the doctor felt she should weigh more
like 13 and a 1/2 to 14lbs. so while i had just started her on solids,
successfully, he wants me to give them to her three times a day, instead of
just once, and i have to go back in two weeks and get her weighed again. if
she hasnt gained at least 5-6 more ounces, he wants to put her on a high
calorie supplement. its a little scary, but because her head size is good
and developmentally shes up to date, he says not to be worried yet. but
like the whole time my mother in law asked stupid comments and questions
that made me cringe like, 'look at megans breasts, surely the baby is
getting enough to eat' (i am well endowed) and 'whatever you want megan to
do, just tell me, since i am the mother in law, i am the enforcer'. and
then she went on to ask if i should go ahead and wean penelope now to make
sure shes getting enough food. my dr kept looking at me like my other in
law was/is a nut, which i have decided that she is. never ever ever ever
ever never will i take her with me again. but anyway, back to
penelope...have any of you heard of anything like ths before or know anyone
that has gone through it? i am trying not to freak out, but i dont know.
ill keep you posted. thanks!
