sail

Well Anne and Dick

December 31 was a gorgeous day in Victoria with clear skies, temperature around 8-10 Celcius, and wind from the NW at between 10-20 knots. I had to take my boat (Sauterelle) from Victoria (where we had the annual RVYC Rum Race on Boxing Day)to Sidney where I keep the boat in the winter. I singlehanded and had the best sail of the year, windward all the way, in good wind and flat seas.Peak speed was 12.5 Kn with main and jib. When I got to Sidney I didn't want to stop, so cruised around the bay for an hour looking for someone to race with, then sadly put her away for the night just as it got dark. It is amazing how easy these boats are to sail short-handed.

For all of August we hope to meander through the Gulf Islands with no itinerary, and go back to some of our favorite places. Be nice to see some other f-boats along the way. We listen to Ch 16 if any of you venture up this way.
