I don't really understand your question. Dieter's circuit, is real simple. It has a multiplier ladder used to get a DC voltage over 500V, in order to ignite the dekatron. The one 'guide set' (of the EZ10, split in 2 sub-groups) is connected directly to the AC line voltage. The glow transfers to the guide when the AC sinewave is in the negative voltage portion of the cycle. All current flowing thru dekatron goes thru the anode, hence thru that 180K resistor, which limits the current. That's it ! Oh, those 2 6.8K resistors are for the 220V world.
