Hi Jens,

Why not go the totally retro way of doing it with an outdated and old DMM chip, 
when you are using Nixies anyway ?

I have had great results with the CA3162 using this schematic, courtecy

Works great !

Putting software into something with nixies is just wrong - working on an CPLD 
based clock too, fully static design ;-)
