The Fairchild FAN7387 looks like a good candidate - FET bridge driver with 
built-in oscillator  - http://www.fairchildsemi.com/pf/FA/FAN7387.html - 
very cheap, available in SO-8 or DIL8, drives 650mA directly, but requires 
11V Vdd
