If I'm understanding you correctly, Mike has NO documentation for your
console? If that is so, please try to provide us with enough info to
determine what type of S3 it is, we _may_ be able to help.
Regarding the power supply, there are a few options. First we need to
figure out how large a supply is required for your desk. How many channels
would help. Next, the type of P/S connector; its usually on the rear right
corner (looking from the rear). Now, you can do at least three things:
1. find a used Neotek supply that has the appropriate voltages and
currents, rebuild it and you're good. This would be the easiest and least
expensive route to take. Defiantly the way I'd suggest you go. Even if it's
not the exact Neotek supply, there are enough similarities between them to
make one work out.
2. Scratch build a supply using modular sub-assemblies (factory build and
rated) for each rail. We've used these from Magnatech and some other
vendors. Get the Newark and Allied catalogs and see what comes close to the
rail voltage list I sent the other day. Some of the individual supplies may
have to be slightly modified to work. The audio rails being +/-18V are not
a "standard" voltage, but 15 is for example. The supply (depending) can
probably be adjusted up 3 volts. Some have done this, Brian Roth and us
(Analog Bros) being a two I know of. We can probably figure out currents
for each rail, I don't know off the top of my head.
2-A. An alternate of #2 is to look around for used console (API, newer
Neve, etc.) power supplies that have similar voltage/current rails and
modify one to work. This could take some research and a bit of engineering,
but still better than option #3.
3. Build a new/upgraded design from scratch. This will be the MOST
expensive, complicated and time consuming. We've done this in the past, but
probably wouldn't be able to take on such a job now. Way too much time
involved. Someone else on the list may be interested.
You really need to get a correct print set for the console first. Take
some photos of the desk to help the list figure out what you have.
