I had this done to my series 1e 24x8. No sonic quality was lost if anything it sounds better. I had canare ribbon console cable installed. It is a better conducter than what they used back in the early 80s when they put these consoles together. My board sounds so good it's shocking. Also I used gold tip dsub 25 connectors. I could not imagine going back to having my console hardwired. Either way good luck.

That is the best way (this is how Neotek save money by not having removeable modules like a neve, the differece between a 30 G console and a 100 G console). Everything will need to be teseted again when set up as since it is hardwired, some solder points become loose. Not a big deal. I have moved a series 3, 3 different times to 3 different states.
