Using ARP to find active IP addresses is a great method circumventing most known and used filtering mechanisms (and I use it regularly) but their are two important gotchas: - it is limited to the hosts connected to the same LAN, it does not work through routers, - gateways implementing proxy ARP, esp. when mixed with NAT, can cause a lot of confusion (yes, I saw a LAN where some (local) IPs were proxy ARPed and NATed to another LAN). --Pavel Kankovsky aka Peak [ Boycott Microsoft--http://www.vcnet.com/bms ] "Resistance is futile.
