While I haven't tried this myself, I think so. There are several options under the KB tab regarding reuse of the knowledge base - check them all (expect the diff scan one) and make sure the maximum age of the KB is high enough to ensure the KB is actually reused. Then, you should be able to restore the session without Nessus actually repeating the scan again.

It's not actually conducting the scan again. The GUI looks like it is, but no network traffic is generated. I have all those options checked already, and expiration is set to 1 year. The problem is that it takes the GUI almost as much time to go through the motions, as it does to conduct an actual scan, with network probes and all. I do my scans detached, so this is the only way I know to get the XML report. If there's another way to get the data from a detached scan, I'm all ears.
