Question concerning Nessus and Perl

I apologize if this is an issue that keeps coming up, a search feature 
should be added to the list archives, as I was not able to manually fine 
a answer to my question.

I am seeking to trigger and parse nessus scans on demand using Perl. I 
have been unable to build the nessus oriented perl module Net::Nessus. 
Has anyone had this problem, or can tell me how to get a working perl 
based solution for working with Nessus?

Any input would be appreciated.
