In general, I'd tend to agree - I don't believe that the instance
handler is particularly useful.  (And the relevant discussion
in That Bloody Book would leave the reader in no doubt of my
opinions here!)
  But this is one of Wes' helpers, so I'm reluctant to simply
drop it.   Particularly since it's probably more widely used
than the (superior, IMO) scalar handler.

But you should be used to the English Way of Doing Things by now :-)
