FYI Juergen,

The Net-SNMP package has a 3rd-party mechanism for generating
engineIDs specifically to avoid the above problems (and in fact, we
did get reports of real-world collisions when we were using the IPv4
engineID derivation; we haven't gotten any reports since shifting to a
method using both random data and time).
