Hi Vinh,

Thanks for the input ☺
Yes, but my ‘c’ went out of production in the 90's with my last 'c' project
(get a vt220 terminal emulation to work on an Amiga 500, which it did).
The reason for using perl, is that the projects that I would like to see using
an snmp agent to allow data to be seen by other Network Management products all
use perl.
I really want to make a good tutorial so that the learning curve isn't too
steep for those who might be tempted to follow the idea...

Having said that, I think the process you describe is the "best" way as one
would have written the mib (documentation): especially as snmptable requires a
mib.

But for many people, the perl way could be the best for a quick "proof of
concept". I just have to find out how to make a couple of subroutines based on
my example that can stuff a hash with values that work with snmpwalk so that
they can use time on the logic of getting their application data into the agent.

Best Regards
Owen Brotherwood

You could write a subagent that would extend the Master agent, in C. You would
need to create a mib and then use mib2c to create a subagent skeleton code.
