Hi Dave
What i meant by both patches is that I applied them one by one.
Both have some changes to be made for 5.3.1 code which I made and Applied
them.
After Patching..I did a make uninstall and recompiled the code again after
running ./configure.
However the error still persists. The container error on SIGHUP that is.
Then I checked out the 5.2.4 tarball which seems to support Localized Keys.
It is not breaking on SIGHUP also.I tested the build on an x86 machine also.
I reckon this build should be fine for me.
However I faced another issue while compilation.I do not see any .so files
when I compiled and linked them inside .libs directory.
Are there any changes I should make on the build for the so files to
appear.Kindly let me know.
As far as the earlier problem is concerned these are the details Step by
Step:
1.First the build tried was 5.3.2.
Here I applied the net-snmp-5.3-shared-ip-4.patch and it was successfully
applied.
However when I did a SIGHUP i found the problem of subcontainer still
exists.
2.Then I tried the alternate solution of container-atomic-insert.patch and
when I applied the same it also succesfully applied.
However when I tried starting SNMP daemon it threw me an error in the
/var/log/snmpd.log saying undeclared silent flag. There is mention of the
same in the Patch thread also which says this needs to be provided by
another patch.
3.Then I tried both of these things(one-by-one) on 5.3.1.
This succeeded without any errors(However I had to change the code manually
due to some line locations being here and there in the patches.
Then on run time I Still found the container Errors on SIGHUP.
I did a make uninstall and repeated configure and make Steps in all the
combinations.
4.Then i tried doing the same steps with 5.2.4.Everything is working fine
here except that I dont see the Sos being created.
*Architechture:
2.6.10-1.771_FC2 #1 Mon Mar 28 00:50:14 EST 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux*
Thanks for all the help Dave/Thomas..i will be trying out with the nightly
Tar Balls also.
Thanks again
