I would suggest that before getting to the point of developing code
and submitting patches,  it's probably worth describing the extensions
that you are considering in a bit more detail.   It may be that other
contributors can make suggestions as to how such extensions might
be structured and what information should be included.

Particularly if this information is likely to prove useful to a wider range
of architectures than simply Linux systems.    We wouldn't want to end
up with separate HostRes extension tables for Linux, Solaris, Windows,
*BSD, etc!
