Unless you really need an IETF standard MIB to proceed, I suggest an extension
table. If the IETF MIB gets updated one day, the code will probably be
reusable.

That's fine and dandy if you have the time and inclination for the extended
interaction needed for design by committee. That would be great, but if not,
don't run away until after submitting your patch. :-)

I would rather have separate HostRes extensions from several people than have
to wait around for one person to create a single HostRes extension for several
platforms. It's easier to create a unified table later if there is working
code.
