I didn't say it was acceptable. I said it didn't meet the criteria
for a show stopper. Per our policy, the condition relating to
configure and build is:

A condition such that a default "configure; make; make install"
fails to complete successfully on a supported system.

So I voted against it for 5.8.rc2. It is a bug, so it would
obviously go into the 5-8-patches and master branches after release.

This release has been dragging along (for which I'm largely to
blame), but I'm trying to get it wrapped up.

That said, the policy also states:

Paramount: A condition that is agreed upon by at least +3
developers when discussed on the coders list. The concept of a
"show stopper" is always based on agreement of the active developers

We're at +2 now (assuming an implied +1 from your message/tone).

Robert
