How can I tell where it's listening > for connections? My high-level view was that the Net-Snmp > agent was the master agent using the AgentX API to connect > to my instrumentation (which is the AgentX subagent). OK - now you've really confused me. When I asked you what the command was that generated this error, you said: /usr/local/sbin/snmpd -V -Dagentx plus something about netsnmp_ds_set_boolean(NETSNMP_DS_APPLICATION_ID, NETSNMP_DS_AGENT_ROLE, 1); which didn't really make a lot of sense, but I took to mean that you'd hacked the agent in some way, so that it ran as a subagent. Now you say that you are running the Net-SNMP as a *master* agent, and the subagent is embedded in your instrumentation. So I will ask again. Which application is giving this error - the main snmpd program or your instrumentation? What settings have you got in the 'snmpd.conf' file relating to AgentX? Dave [And for the third time of asking, can you PLEASE turn *off* HTML mail. It's totally unnecessary, and simply serves to double the size of every single message that you send out!!] ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: Oracle 10g Get certified on the hottest thing ever to hit the market...
