Ummm... other things you could try:
a) Use a MIB-qualified form of the trap name
traphandle IF-MIB::linkDown
/home/raghavan/Desktop/net-snmp-5.0.9/include/project3
b) Use a fully-numeric form
traphandle .1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.3
/home/raghavan/Desktop/net-snmp-5.0.9/include/project3
