We do - every time. Wes has sent out three messages in the last month asking people to try out the release candidates, and report any problems. We're not going to send you an individualised request, so don't hold your breath waiting. This is an *open* project - anyone who wants to assist can do so. > I have not at any time > earlier downloaded and evaluated a release candidate Well that's hardly our fault! :-) > but, if my > feedback would be appreciated, I will begin to do such testing. Please do. That's why Wes sends out comments such as "Please give this a whirl" and "Get it Build it! Test it! Enjoy it!" > Of course, I will want to know what is changed, Each release includes a ChangeLog file (listing all the changes that have been made) and a NEWS file (highlighting the most significant ones). > and my focus will > be toward those parts of Net-SNMP that I already know, so such > testing will (obviously) not be exhaustive. That's the basic idea of Open Source - development can be distributed across the whole community, and that includes testing. I wouldn't expect *anyone* to do exhaustive testing - there are just too many possibilities. But the more testing that can be done (across the board), the better. And if you can offer test cases for the "make test" harness, so much the better. But that's really more appropriate for the agent and command-line tools, rather than the code development side of things. Extending the agent is an important feature of this suite, but it's still a relatively specialised requirement. I don't think we'd want to count such problems as "show-stoppers". But *any* problem is worth trying to fix - it's just a matter of when (and who by!)
