Did you include that line, and ensure this username has suitable
access to query the agent?
From the snmpd.conf man page:
In both these latter cases [linkUpDownNotifications and
defaultMonitors],
the snmpd.conf must also contain a iquerySecName directive,
together with
a corresponding createUser entry and suitable access control
configuration.
