Hello all, Sorry for the self-reply, but the Net-SNMP version may be important here (probably)...I am using Net-SNMP 5.3.1 compiled from source.
TIA, Dave Arthur -----Original Message----- From: David Arthur [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, December 29, 2006 11:29 AM To: '[email protected]' Subject: ./configure cannot find openssl Hello all, I am trying to get SNMPv3 to work *with* encryption (AES/DES), in a SUSE SLES 9 system. I am using setting things up with the command: ./configure --with-openssl=/usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0 (I tried various other arguments to "--with-openssl", but they all complained about "...being asked to include OpenSSL but can't find it...", where the "/usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0" causes no complaint.) When configure finishes, the summary indicates that only MD5 authentication is available, and no encryption support. 1) Using rpm -qa openssl returns: openssl-0.9.7d-15.21, 2) Do I need to have a newer (or additional) package to get SHA/AES/DES? 3) Is the "--with-openssl" looking for libcrypto, a package, or ??? I have verified that the internal MD5 authentication *does work*, but of course, I get an error message about the encryption when I try to use it. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
