I agree with Michael here; anyone can use any of my work for any purpose
he or she wants; this includes video/sound/image/etc. When I've done mocap
or other work somewhere, I give copies of the resulting files (bvh for
example) away. The only problem with this is that I have no employment to
speak of; if I made physical objects I'd tried to sell them to support
myself. The one problematic area is music; ESP-Disk is supposed to have a
digital release of some pieces of mine (not online), for which there will
be a charge for download. I doubt anyone will buy when so much is freely
available, but at least it's an attempt to make something back from my
work. On the other hand all 1200+ sound files are available for free down-
load from http://espdisk.com/alansondheim/ . The rest of the stuff is
freely available at http://www.alansondheim.org/ . I suppose these sites
are my neurotic legacy, my flesh and blood, to the world (who pretty much
couldn't care less). I keep thinking they'll disappear when I'm dead, so
download now to avoid last-minute bandwidth hassles. The only thing
they'll cost you is time! (Meanwhile a friend of mine sells her videos,
with monitor and dvd player, for $10k. How does she do that?!!) - Alan
