Annie,

Personally, I would not mind being made fun of this way because of its
thoughtfulness. It's actually a compliment. If it were just another
art-school Neo-Futurist screed, I might be irritated or maybe even angry,
but Abramopug is actually funny. In a (possible) letter I am composing, I
think that some of the blue-chips need to be held accountable for their bad
practices, and from the table at the LACMA to Seven Easy Pieces, to having a
kickstarter, taking an Adidas ad for the World Cup, then turning around and
offering four high-labor unpaid jobs, MA has (at least in a mediated
fashion) shown a pretty hollow discourse of the humane. In my opinion, it
looks like she has gone from Rhythm 0 to Nothing and turned herself into a
brand that seems indifferent to fame or compensation to her staff, where
Murakami is a star-maker, and Jeff Koons pays well.

It is not that I do not respect Marina's incredible contribution to the
field, I feel like dancing with Jay-Z, the bit with Lady Gaga, Nothing, etc.
have made her into a caricature of the incredibly brave woman who had the
arrow pointing directly at her heart. In short, I sometimes think that she
has grown tired of risk and seeks to cash in and pass the torch on while
doing so, or potentially making the MAI a performance art sideshow. I
certainly hope I'm wrong, but that is what it looks like from here.

I'm being very strong in my criticism, and I will knock down my house of
cards if I am wrong, but I just feel that she could be such a champion for
future generations. And is more focused on herself.

That is her right, but I don't have to support it.
