Regarding NETBEANS-330 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-330>, we can build the update center now, and if/when we setup a location for the update center (presumably redirecting somewhere), we can set that to the IDE, and see what happens. But to test this fully, a release would be good, so that we can redirect to mirrors and see what happens (and I suspect it may not work on the first try).
Regarding NETBEANS-467 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-467>, I think the situation is much less clear. At very least, it seems we will need INFRA-16435 to be resolved, and ensure all external binaries used by (at least) platform are on Maven central. I guess it would be ideal if someone using Maven and NB platform (and hence knowing the end goal) would drive this.
