Regarding the NETBEANS-467, why do we need all external binaries in the
Apache repository? I thought we wil just publish our build result?
Seems there is still some work left before we get a release..

we can build the
update center now, and if/when we setup a location for the update center
(presumably redirecting somewhere), we can set that to the IDE, and see
what happens. But to test this fully, a release would be good, so that we
can redirect to mirrors and see what happens (and I suspect it may not work
on the first try).

I think the
situation is much less clear. At very least, it seems we will need
INFRA-16435 to be resolved, and ensure all external binaries used by (at
least) platform are on Maven central. I guess it would be ideal if someone
using Maven and NB platform (and hence knowing the end goal) would drive
this.
