On my Outlook Express here at work, the slashes and stars appear as they do
when you write the mail, ie it doesn't interpret them as italic and bold
qualifiers.
Unfortunately, the <snip> is interpreted as an HTML tag and replaced with a
giant pair of scissors. ;(
