You might be using your modem's settings. If you can come to grips with the
modem manual, you can save the settings to the modem's NVRam and use ATZ as
your init string, which lodas your settings. Saving settings is probably
done with AT&W. Another set can be saved with AT&1! and recalled with ATZ1

Use Term or NCOmm to read the currently saved settings and write new ones.
Seing the current set up might be AT&V or ATI5 or something else.
