Further to my earlier post on newsgroups, I am now experiencing the
following:-
Most of the time, I have no problem downloading newsgroups. When I'm
downloading newsgroups, at the bottom of the window I get -
"shiva.ukisp.net Dnews version 4.6J, S0, posting disabled".
When I try to post to a newsgroup I get this message also.
Recently, when I try to download newsgroups, they won't download, and I get
the message "480 Authentification required". Before I get this message, the
download window appears for a fraction of a second, and the message at the
bottom says "posting ok".
After over a dozen failed attempts to download newsgroups & getting the
error message, they download ok, (with the posting disabled message
displayed). Why am i getting the "480 Authentification message" and
what does it mean?
Has anyone else had these problems when downloading/posting to newsgroups?
