Subject: [netconnect] NC3- Worth it?

The latest release of MD2 appears to be fully Y2K compliant. My xx/xx/00
mails sort after my xx/xx/99 mails, and incoming messages weren't sent 100
years ago. So far, so good.

I'd agree with Octopus being a bit less functional than the 'NetConnect'
program supplied with NC1.1. The old program seemed much more versatile and
less prone to doing daft things like not minimising. But to be honest,
Octopus is open 100% of the time that my Amiga is running, and has never
crashed, and always works in as much as I can dial in, open programs, and
modify it to open other program (so long as they are set up as 'CLI') The
rest of NC3 is superb. The JScript in V3 is coming along nicely, the Flash
support is superb and it handles HTML very nicely indeed compared to older V
versions. As I have 'jumped' from NC1.1 to NC3, I can't compare to the NC2
proggies directly, but the overall impression is very favourable.

NC3 components rarely crash. V3 can go down at certain points (as any
browser on /any/ platform will), but usually it just freezes, rather than
guruing. MD2 is 100% stable, AmIRC seems to be very stable through the
little use I've given it. NetInfo is cute (and stable) and Genesis is
absolutely superb.
As a package, once you've got the updated components installed from Vapor's
support site, you will never look back.
