Well, the only thing I can think of is that JS is hogging a tiny bit more of
your CPU and, thus, is causing a serial port overflow, which causes the
linedrop.

There's no other explanation. Viewing a web site does not cause a
linedrop...unless, for example, you are trying to download/view a ton of
JPG's, on a 128/256 colour screen, using the normal serial port.
