until about a month ago I was using a Magic Xpress 56k modem toconnect
my A1200, with 1260/50. I never had any problems, if it couldn't
connect it would keep trying until it did.
However, I 'upgraded' it to a Pace Solo 56k, if that's the word, & can
only say I'm really disappointed with it.
It never connects first time, I always get the message SANA2online:
could not connect. Usually it takes about 3 tries,which I have
to do manually, before I can get online, & then it will quite often
just disconnect itself & put me offline. Also, it will sometimes
connect, but be unable to obtain the host name for my machine, so I
can't download my mails.
When I try to download my mails it takes ages to find them (about 90
seconds, & then downloads them quite quickly, whereas with te Xpress
it would connect much quicker - about 10 - 15 secs.
I'm running it off the standard Amiga serial port, using the full,
registered netconnect 3 package, OS3.5 etc. & have a 1260 with 16mb on
board.
I have set up genesis to use the solo, & not just stuck with the
previous modems settings.
Can anyone help me with this as I'm seriously considering getting rid
of the solo & going back to the 'inferior' Xpress.
