There is little point in having a firewall on the same computer as you
are trying to protect. In order to provide any real level of
protection the firewall has to be external, and secure, otherwise
every incoming packet can potentially reach the parts that other
packets can't. To effectively protect Genesis, simply remove all the
services you don't actually use. My firewall at home is a Windows NT
machine running commercial firewall software. Pain in the bum
sometimes, but the security and speed are worth it.
