I don't see how that could be workable, but...

Yes that's right.  Unfortunately, the 'data' directory, while used to store
*most* of the data, including the messages themselves, it still requires the
'contents' file, called 'MicroDot.prefs', which is stored in the same
directory as the Microdot executable.  So therefore, if I understand it
right, you can't have any more than one 'data' directory per executable
file.  That leaves my original suggestion.
