Hi,

Well, it finally arrived and I plugged it in and it works. Well, to the
extent that it doesn't do anything radical to the machine. ;-)

I make a new "interface" and select the x-surf.device and on the Windoze
machine I set up wingate as best I know how.

I say connect and it says it is connected.

The Amiga is x.x.x.1 and windoze is x.x.x.3

I type in PING x.x.x.3 and it seems happy enough.

But if I try to FTP to x.x.x.3 CONSTANT connection refused.

Ok, that is very indicative that windoze is barring me.

Next question though:

Why is it that it doesn't see the Amiga?

Why can't I ping it from there?

Yes, I understand I have all the right software in the right places from my
feeble attempts to get the two talking on a serial link.

Next (and last for now) observation.

I got sick of trying in vein to get them talking, so I turned off windoze
and walked over to the Amiga.

Hey, just for the hell of it:

ping x.x.x.3<enter>

It was working.

Pings sent and received....

Now, note at this point the other machine was turned OFF and so was the HUB
so how does that work?

Anyone - please.

Cya!
