While logged into the shell as the netdisco user, run:

bin/netdisco-do discover -d <IP-ADDRESS-OF-YOUR-SWITCH>

If all goes well, you will see output as it lists neighbours. For lots
more outout, use:

bin/netdisco-do -DISG discover -d <IP-ADDRESS-OF-YOUR-SWITCH>

I've recently had some issues with NetDisco 2 not reliably tracking users via
IP address. For instance, I'm trying to find out which port a certain client is
attached to and I know their IP address.

I type in the IP address and NetDisco comes back with "no matching records".
If I go to my router and type "show IP arp xx.xx.xx.xx" and will come back
with a MAC address and I can place that MAC address into NetDisco and it will
find the device...but without any IP info. Eventually these records will
appear but definitely not after 1 hour.

This is what my deployment.xml looks like. I want NetDisco to refresh IP and
MAC records at the top of the hour, the other at the bottom of the hour. Does
this look correct?

schedule:
  discoverall:
    when: '0 3 * * *'
  macwalk:
    when: '30 * * * *'
      min:
  arpwalk:
    when: '0 * * * *'
      min:
  nbtwalk:
    when: '0 2 * * *'
  expire:
    when: '59 23 * * *'

/Ken

Hi Ken,

First of all, which version of Netdisco are you running? In the latest version
there are some bug fixes which could apply in this situation.

Regards,
Oliver.

Hi all,
All of our network is using SNMP v3.
I tried all kinds of variations in the config that i found on :
http://search.cpan.org/~oliver/App-Netdisco-2.019002/lib/App/Netdisco/Manual/Configuration.pod#snmpver
-
     tag: v3example
     user: [user]
     auth:
       pass: [password]
       proto: SHA
     priv:
       pass: [password]
       proto: AES[128]

But i receive an error if i run the discover command for that switch.
i hope one of you can help me with this

Greetings
Palermo
