The problem is getting back to an ND-page from non_ND page does not work
without the uniqueValue. We tested it by adding it manually on the non-ND
and that worked.
Since this number changes everytime there is no way for non-ND page to know
what to sent back for it to work.

That unique value is completely ignored by NetDynamics and is only there for
the benefit of web browsers.
IE would otherwise provide a cached version of the page rather than
returning to the server for an updated version.
I think it is added by the studio and is mainly useful during the
development phase.

The uniqueValue is added at the end of the location URL on the page
e.g.,
http://localhost/cgi-bin/ndISAPI.dll/MCSC/pgCustomersList?~uniqueValue=92850

The number changes everytime one runs the same page. I don't know
what's the
significance/purpose of this uniqueValue. It doesn't get passed with
the
spidersession but is needed if one wants to come from a non-ND page
back to
ND-page.

lower
level approach to the problem?'
Should it make a difference whether I use:
theBtn.setSendSessionToExternalURL(true);
or add the **SPIDERSESSION** to the button's html text?

rest of
the session.
I have not used the external URL feature you are mentioning.
Have you considered using a lower level approach to the problem?
You could extract session id from its hidden field and do anything
you like
with it using basic JavaScript/HTML/CGI tools.
