Sun have done a poor job telling their customer what they are doing with the upgrades
of ND to iplanet.
I believe they have a very good product in iAS 6.0.
They are engineering oriented and their marketing and sale efforts are weak.
I'll try to post a few thing here as to what my understanding of iAS 6.0 and upgrade
path for ND customers from a technical point of view.
I never ask anyone why they decided to choose NAS over ND as the application server.
It was too painful for me to even asked.
Even though it hurts dearly, I have to admit the decision is a good one if you accept
the fact that j2ee is the future standard and all other custom API's must go.

iAS 6.0 or iplantnet application server will be successful because it is a good
enginnering product. How much market share it can get will depend on sun's marketing
and sale's effort.

If price is the issue I would recomand ASP.
It is free and it is good.

AS a member of team ND I try to help other ND users to use the product.
All postings are my own opinion and I try to be as objective as possible and look
after the ND user's group.

When I play bridge in 1994-1995, the most difficult thing is to see other bridge
players die.

(most bridge players are senior citizens)

I can see that happening to ND.
But I have no regrets.
I have a great experience using ND's product, work with ND's employee, and communicate
with other ND users.

I am looking foreward to a new beginning with the iPlanet iAS 6.0 server and j2ee.
